Week 6-Making my CV.

Today we were asked to make a cv to send out to different salons around our area, however I already had a cv. Now I am going to go and hand my cv out to all different types of beauty salons, this will help me in my career and help me to gain experience in the working world. I am looking forward to getting a job in the beauty industry as it is something I have wanted to do since I was little.

Week 5-Nail design/polish.

Today I gave Beth, my assessor, a manicure along with one of my peers, there wasn't a lot of work to be done as she had very well looked after hands and nails. I also painted Sarah's nails, I used two different colours to do this and as she had long nails she picked out a darker colour. Darker colours exsentuate longer nails and make them appear longer. I applied a base coat, 2 layers of both colours and a top coat. You should use a base coat so that the colour doesn't stain the nail and as it is a darker colour this needs to have a base coat. You should also use a top coat as this will keep the nail varnish on for longer and it is less likely to chip.

Week 4-Manicure and polish.

Today I provided a manicure for one of my peers, Charlotte. I mostly did cuticle work and this will help her nails because they are short and she wants them to grow. Her nails were also very weak because she'd previously had gel extensions on which had damaged her nails. I used the buffying technique to smooth out her nails and help them to grow also. Then I lastly painted her nails a light pink colour, using a light colour on short nails is much better and looks much neater. I also spoke to Beth about what I want to do next year and what I would like to do in the future with beauty therapy.

Week 3-Careers event.

Today I extended a careers event which included me providing a hand and arm massage with a Eve Taylor candle. Me and Ellie did these massages for year 8's so they could have an understanding of beauty therapy and bits about the course and what you do. If they wanted to do beauty therapy we had a form that they could fill in so that they could get more information on the course.
